PhD Student (m/f/d) DFG - Institute of Experimental Endocrinology

As a PhD student at the Institute of Experimental Endocrinology, you will work on an innovative research project investigating novel brain pathways that mediate the effects of thyroid hormone. The project combines cutting-edge in vivo imaging approaches with established neuroanatomical and molecular biology techniques.

We are seeking professional and competent support, starting on 1 October 2026, on a fixed-term basis of three years.

Your role: 

  • Immunohistochemical analysis of mouse brain sections
  • In vivo modulation of neuronal activity using stereotaxic AAV injections
  • Physiological phenotyping and functional assessment experiments
  • Application of molecular and cell biology techniques for peripheral tissue analysis
  • Support in experimental design, data analysis, and preparation of scientific publications
  • Collaboration in an interdisciplinary and international research environment

 

Your profile: 

  • A Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Life Science or similar (or a finished curriculum and currently in their master thesis)
  • Proficient English communication skills
  • A FELASA B (or equivalent, valid in the EU) certification for working with experimental animals
  • Experience in molecular and cell biology techniques and a thorough knowledge of physiology and genetics are advantageous

 

The student will be enrolled at the Center for Doctoral Studies at the University of Lübeck (CDSL) during the PhD project.
